“I strive to break more boundaries and help myself as well as others move forward in their lives. I want to realise my dreams and exceed all limitations.” As once said by the man who set out to break the records and summit 14 of the highest mountains in 7 months, Nirmal Purja has successfully conquered all the mighty 8000m mountains in just 6 months and 6 days. A former UK’s Special Forces members, Nirmal Purja, also widely known as Nims reached his goal on 29th October 2019, marking a successful end to his project named “Project Possible”.

Nims has always wanted to go beyond the conventional ways of living and has always dreamed of reaching new milestones in his life. Having spent 16 years serving in the UK’s Special Forces, he embarked on this extraordinary journey in April of 2019, and has triumphed his mission of climbing all 8000ers, namely

Being in the military away from home, Nims had to make several sacrifices, from giving up quality time to spend with family and friends and having to go on multiple deployments. But he always knew he wanted to do more for himself, and being a trained mountaineer himself, he started this astonishing mission to surmount the 8000ers.

“I am overwhelmed and incredibly proud to have achieved my goal. By accomplishing this, I knew I could inspire people from across the world,” quoted Nims reflection on his success.

Aside from being able to surmount the 8000ers in just about 6 months, Nims also attained six other world records including the most 8,000m mountains summited in the spring season as well as in the summer season. He was also able to give Sherpa mountaineers the acknowledgement and recognition they deserve. He also wanted to inspire not just mountaineers and adventurers, but ordinary people too to chase their ambitions and make their dream come true. The successful completion of this project marks the beginning of encouraging people across the globe to take the initiative in making their dream come true. Along with that, he also used this project as a platform to show the impact of climate change on the mountains.

Setting a world record and inspiring people everywhere, Nims surely did win several awards, accolades and a lot more hearts. Despite the hardships and barriers, his will to achieve his goal made sure no blocks stood in his way.To know more about Project Possible, visit
