Annapurna Dhaulagiri Khair lake Trek, also known as the Khopra Hill Trekking is one of the most alluring trekking routes of Annapurna region. In terms of difficulty it is a moderate level trekking (grade two). It might be a bit challenging for the first-time trekkers but if you are physically fit and exercise on a regular basis, you can do this trek.
This Annapurna Dhaulagiri trek will let you see the finest tea gardens along the way, with numerous tea houses along the way; it also presents a wealth of amazing views of many different cultures of the Himalayas. The trail passes through many tribal villages and wild woods, offering spectacular view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri throughout the way. The trip is diverse, as it touches the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, the Annapurna Base Camp and the tranquil town of Khopra, the best place to see the 7th highest mountain in the world, Mt Dhaulagiri.
The magnificent Khayar Lake (4510m) is the major attraction of this area and the sunrise views of Mount Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri etc.
Set at mighty altitude of 4,827m, Khayer Lake offers outstanding views of daunting Himalayan peaks – Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Mt. Fang and more. Tukuche peak, Annapurna south, Himchuli, Fist tail, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna IV, Annapurna III, Dampus Peak, Mana Pathi Peak, and Annapurna Fang, are all seen blanketed in everlasting snow.
The trial is a new trekking trial in the Annapurna region which leads to the warm hospitality of local Gurung and Magar people. No other treks offer such spectacular landscapes, peace and isolation as well as so much experience of Himalayan Diversity.
The best season for the trek is February-June and September-December. The area promises to enrich your spirit, particularly during the spring season, with the glow of the blossoming flowers found only in this region.
Day 1: Arrival
A team by Unique Adventure International representatives will welcome you at Tribhuvan International airport (TIA), Rest assured the team will be standing in the exit gate with a Display Board and a bouquet of flowers to welcome you.
Considering Jet lag on our minds, we will then be accompanied to your hotel where you can relax and get settled for the night. To start off your Nepal experience you will be served with a Nepali Style Lunch in a traditional Nepali Restaurant where you can enjoy your lunch with a traditional cultural program.
Day 2: Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley, overnight at hotel
Our sightseeing tour will start after breakfast in the morning. The most popular sights in the Kathmandu Valley are the Swayambhunath, the temple of Monkey, the temple of Pashupatinath, and the square of Bouddhanath. We will have a final preparation and a briefing for the trek later in the afternoon. We will stay the night in a hotel
Day 3: Drive to Pokhara
After breakfast, after a drive of almost 6 hours, soon in the morning you will reach Pokhara. You can have a stunning panorama throughout your drive over the river and landscape. Or, you can also take a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. We will check-in in a hotel and later in the afternoon you can stroll around the streets, visit Lake Valley or go to the renowned Fewa Lake for boating.
Day 4: Drive to Phedi and start trek to Tolka, overnight at guesthouse
The next morning, we drive Phedi by car (30 minutes). After we reach Phedi we trek through the cultivated wild meadows and local villages to Dhampus. Settled by the ethnic peoples of Magar, Gurung, Bhraman, this beautiful `village of Gurung offers a wonderful view of the mountain ranges which includes the Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Range. We will then hike through the oak and rhododendron forest. On the way we can see the tremendous view of Machhapuchhre. Before we reach Deurali, we pass with views of Mardi Khola and the beautiful views of Annapurna South, Himchuli to the north and Pokhara, Phewa Lake to the southeast before we reach Deurali. Then we go down a enormous gorge of Modi Khola and reach Kharka. We will move down and take the upper track crossing a stream above the suspension bridge. Then we go up gently through canyon and reach Tolka taking around 1 and half hour.
Day 5: Trek to Gurjung via Jhinu, overnight at guest house
In the morning, we will move a long stair case down to a suspension bridge across the small river in the morning, climbing through forests to an easy stream passing by before reaching a Gurung community of Landruk village. Later, we move forward towards the right trail. Walking down on the jungly trail moving down we’ll witness a gorgeous view of south side of Annapurna. Then, we reach Modi Khola above which is the very famous long suspension bridge. We will climb and then traverse over the stream. Then a slight stiff climbs will lead us to Jhinu Danda where you will get to see a hot spring. After about an hour of walk to Chhomrong, we then move to Gurjung (2060meter) situated on the north side of Kimrong Khola, a small community with number of restaurents and tea houses which is a very pleasant place to stop for lunch. We rest and stay at the camp.
Day 6 – 11: Trek to Khayar Lake (Isharu – Dobato – Chisitbung – Khpora Hill (Daanda) – Khair Lake – Swata), overnight at guest house.
Day 12: Trek to Ghorepani, overnight at guest house
Today we will walk to Ghorepani, one of Annapurna’s most known spots, located 2856m above sea level. We hike to Chitre going across oak and rhododendron forest. We thenk have to trek for 5 hours until we reach our ultimate destination Ghorepani. We will spend the night in hotel.
Day 13: Climb Poon Hill early in the morning and continue to hike, overnight at guesthouse.
We march early in the morning to Poonhill (3210m) where we can see beautiful mountains and sunrise. After an hour we come down from Poonhill and go down to Hile for about 6 hours for the night.
Day 14: Trek to Naya pool and drive to Pokhara, overnight at hotel
Today we move down gently to Birethanti. We will walk a little over an hour from Birethanti to Naya Pool. We will then take a vehicle from Naya Pool and reach Pokhara.
Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu
We take a drive to Kathamndu from Pokhara. We can relax or walk to various sights of Kathmandu once we reach Kathmandu. In the evening we will have a farewell dinner.
Day 16: Leisure Day in Kathmandu
If some major sites are missed as per your choice, we can walk around the Kathmandu Valley. Following the busy hiking schedule, you can go shopping or have a day’s rest before you leave Nepal.
Day 17: Departure
This is your last day in Nepal. Our Unique Adventure Representative will take you to the airport.
